Comparison to other notable PvE Builds:
At the current state, arcane is the best dps for PvE with the proper usage, but let me introduce some others at compare them!
FrostFire (0/53/18)
Positive:
-This spec if famous of the lowest mana/hit rating dependency.
-You basically keep Living bomb and Imp. Scorch up and spam FFB(+Instant pyro).
-Also, if the boss is immune to Fire (which is very unlikely) then it does the damage in Frost (or vice versa).
Negative:
-Maybe you won’t run out of mana, but your dps will signifficantly be lower no matter how skilled you are .
-It’s damn boring to spam one button
Fireball+Torment of the Weak (18/53/0)
Positive:
-Lower mana dependency than Arcane.
-Imp. Scorch.
-The talent goes in Arcane a bit, and you get +12% dmg from Torment of the Weak, sacrificing IV for it.
-Same like FFB, but instead, you use Fireball and you do more damage, almost as much as Arcane!
-You have Focus Magic, +3% crit for you and another person!
Negative:
-You need around ~400 Hit rating in order to make this work.
-This talent in worthless in non-raid situation and it is the worst for AoE.
-What happens if Ragnaros sets foot on Northrend? (Heh)
-Some mages who can’t play Arcane are complaining about mana issues, but they are willing to sacrifice getting 400 hit rating to get a DPS around 200-300 below Arcane.

Arcane Mage Guide
Introduction to Arcane:
Some fast things (For later use):
Arcane Missiles = AM
Arcane Barrage = Abarr
Arcane Blast = AB
Arcane Power = AP
Focus Magic = FM
3.0.8 Buffed arcane mages and gave them sh*tsome possibilities in PvE.
There are records of arcane mages doing over 6,700 DPS on Patchwerk.
This talent all depends on your routine and ability to burn all your mana until the end of the fight. There were a few rotations, ones making more DPS at the sacrifice of Damage per Mana (DPM) and others making a bit less dps at dramatically less DPM. I, for example, remember doing 20k Arcane Blasts in Naxx25 with trinkets procced and AP.
With the right use of these rotations, nobody could stop you or go over you in DPS. Plus the flexibility which Arcane gives us, how much more damage at Malygos w/ Arcane Barrage.
3.0.9 – The nerf of heaven.
This of course supposed to happen, since we could easily top other classes with a huge amount of DPS, but mages still went Q.Q even these nerfs weren’t as cruel as described.
-Arcane Barrage got a -10% spellpower coeff. nerf
-Arcane Power now gives +20% damage, but only has 2mins CD.
-AP and PoM cannot be active at the same time.
Even with these changes, you can STILL top the DPS chart, no matter with these changes/nerf!
Talent:
Talent Calculator – World of Warcraft
This is the baseline how your talent should look like, but you can make minor changes, such as +1point to arcane hit and -1 point to Arcane Stability (In case you have the paladin’s aura)
Gears:
Ofcourse, the first thing to get is the hitcap.
You need 17% Hit overall.
-Precision +3% hit.
-If you have an SP/Moonkin, that’s another +3% hit.
-If you spare some points on Arcane focus, that’s 1-3%, but I wouldn’t reccomend it.
So you need 11% unbuffed hit to be capped against a level 73 mob (Boss), which isn’t really hard to obtain!
The stats you need always depend on your current gear, but the primary stat you need is, clearly, spellpower!
Gems:
The meta socket (if you have one) should be Chatoic Skyflare Diamond.
That needs 2 blue gems, which should be: +spelldmg and +spirit.
The rest should be raw spell power or haste+spellpower for socket bonuses. As you can see, one spell power worths the twice of a crit rating.
Glyphs:
Since 3.0.9, you need the following ones for best results:
-Glyph of Arcane Missiles
-Glyph of Arcane Blast
-Glyph of Mage Armor
Some mages are thinking of using Glyphed Molten Armor, but with this big mana burn, I wouldn’t reccomend it. +100 DPS isn’t worth to be OOM at fights longer than 5minutes.
Rotation:
Since 3.0.9 rotation is MUCH less complicated than it was in 3.0.8.
You need to understand, that there is no “single” rotation.
Your goal is to burn ALL your mana to the end of the fight.
If you have supports like SP, and you have to nuke like hell, let’s say a 6minute Malygos, or 3add Sartharion, you do it like this:
¤Arcane Blast (x3)
¤If Missile Barrage procced, then AM, if not, Abarr.
-rinse and repeat.
It’s this simple since 3.0.9!
Let’s say you got the Missile Barrage procced on the 2nd AB and you’re casting the 3rd one, you’ll know that you use AM after the 3rd AB.
But if you didn’t get a Missile Barrage proc on the 1st and 2nd AB, don’t cast the 3rd and see if it procced, just do an Abarr.
And never do Abarr after AM, it doesn’t worth the global cooldown.
Let’s say you’re on a longer fight, you cannot afford this mana cost, it’s easy to switch into a less mana effiency rotation.
¤Arcane Blast (x2)
¤If Missile Barrage procced, then AM, if not, Abarr.
-rinse and repeat.
Always remember, depending on your mana, if it is too low, you can always switch back to the 2x stack of AB rotation. This is the key concept in arcane.
Macros:
Your Macro should contain the following:
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Arcane Power
/cast Icy Veins
/cast Berserking (If you’re a troll)
Do you notice? PoM shouldn’t be in the macro, you should use that ability separately from AP, when these are on cooldown, or after AP expired.
This “nuke” macro is even more effective under Bloodlust, keep that in mind.
Interesting Things:
-At Malygos don’t use your PoM, keep it until Vortex, where you can do the following for the best results and the least DPS lost due to the inability to cast: Abarr,PoM AB,Abarr,Fire Blast.
-Let’s say the boss is at 10% HP, and you’re at 90% Mana. The best way to burn your mana and do the best dps is to just spam AB until the boss is dead, but you should keep watching your mana, if you start it too early you can just go OOM before the boss is dead and that’s ALOT of dps loss.
-You have the advantage of -40% threat, which makes this spec in most of the cases the best. You’ll see other firemages struggling in aggro, loosing DPS with using invisibility, which you will never have to.
-Altough Arcane is infamous for it’s faceroll PvP side, it’s currently the most difficult to use in PvE (funny, eh?)
-You have a 2min Evocation CD, it’s like that for a purpose, ALWAYS use it, it’s your best friend.
-Don’t let every mage in your guild spec to this, since the raid needs the +10% crit which Imp. Scorch gives, so most of the times in 25man instances, you need atleast one Firemage.
Hope I could convince you to reroll Arcane, rather than falling asleep while spamming FFB on fire talent, this is actually much more exciting spec to play.
